Rafaela Kennedy

Manaus/Am

An Amazonian visual artist, Rafaela Kennedy uses photography to rewrite stories erased by colonization, addressing her indigenous roots and gender diversity. As a transvestite and a person with indigenous and black roots, Rafaela naturalizes and values bodies that are on the limits of representation, creating new imaginaries that refuse stereotypes. In 2023, she participated in the exhibition “REBOJO” in London, and, in 2022, she integrated “Um Espelho na História” at Galeria Almeida & Dale, receiving the “Woman Artist Residency Award” in Zona Maco (Mexico City). Her works invite us to reflect about hegemonies and representation of invisible narratives.
